THE STANDARD DESIGNATED SERVICES CREDENTIAL WITH A SPECIALIZATION IN PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES A . tandard Designated Services Cred ntiul with 11 Specialization in !'upil Personnel Services includ the following designated services: Pupil Cou11Seling, Chjld Welfare and Attendance Psychometry, Psychology, and 'chool Social Work. Since th requirements differ for the vnrious designations that may appear on the credential, and since only a brief summary of the requirements is included here, it is essential that th student planning to work toward this credentilll hould consult the Department of Advanced Studies to secure an adviser ns ea rly as pos$ible and b admitted to the credential program. REQUIREMENTS Th applicant shall have completed a progrnm including the following: (a) A baccalaureate or higher degree from an institution approved by the State Board of Education. (b) A fifth yea-r of college or university educution. Except where inappropriate, the fifth year shnll be substan.tia.lly devoted to academic and clinical training suggested below. {c) AS 153, Elementary Statisties, or an equivalent course is prerequisite to the program and is not to be counted in the units applied on the credentiaL PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION The total cred n tial program at CSUI: will consist of 33 units. Candidates for the Standard Crede nti11l in Counseling must eomplete 21 units of course work in the following areas: A. Pupil Personnel Services, Concepts nod Procedures AS 174, Principles and Techniques in Guidance B. Counseling Theory and Procedures A S 224, Coun eli11g Techniques or Psych 262, Diagnostic Clinical Interviewing C. Measurement Theory and Procedures AS 227, Seminar in Tests in Counseling D. Education and Career Planning A S 222, Seminar in Occupational nalysis and Information E. Organization of Pupil Personnel Services A S 226, Seminar in Guidance Services F. Practicum and Field Work AS 224FA, Field Work in Counseling, and AS 231, Counseling Practicum An additional 12 units will be selected from the following areas: G. Dynamics of Individual Behavior A 229, Seminar in Elementary School Counseling, or Psych 166, Abnormal Psychology H. Group Processes, Theory and Procedure A S 228, Seminar in Group Process I. Remedial and Special Education A S 160, Education of Exceptional Children, or A S 230, Guidance of Exceptional Children and Their Parents J. Laws Relating to Children A S 172, Laws Relating to Children K. Parent Education and Counseling A 223, Child Welfllre, Parent Education, and Counseling L. Advanced Counseling Theory A 225, Advanced Theories and Techniques in Cotmseling M.
