Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education Agricultural Sciences & Technology 2012-2013 California State University, Fresno General Catalog 109 courses have been designated CR/NC grading only. 5. The upper-division writing skills re-quirement can be met by passing the university examination (UDWE) or by taking an approved upper-division writ-ing skills course, to be taken no sooner than the term in which 60 units are completed. (For details, consult the agricultural education credentialing coordinator.) 6. Agricultural communications students must pass the Department Qualifi cation Examination (DQE). The DQE is a screening examination administered by the Mass Communication and Journal-ism Depart ment. It must be passed before permission is given for enrollment in MCJ 10 and other writing and editing courses. Contact the Mass Communications and Journalism Department for DQE informa-tion, requirements, and testing dates. Approved Subject Matter Preparation Program Completion of the Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education meets the requirements of the Approved Subject Matter Preparation Program. The Single Subject Cre-dential authorizes the holder to teach general agriculture in grades 7-12. Students with a B.S. in another agricultural major may obtain a Single Subject Credential by completing the remaining coursework required for the B.S. in Agricultural Education. Credential candidates must pass examina-tions in reading, writing, and mathematics in addition to other numerous state of California and California State University, Fresno requirements.
