PLACEMENT SERVICE The college maintains a ceno:alized placement service which is Closely integrated with the total educational process of the college, operates in cooperation with the various departments of the college, and is part of the student personnel program. Its services include education:U placement, business and industrial placement, and student placement The placemcnc service seel<s more efficient utilization of college manpower by assisting students of the college and alumni in seeking positi ns which will best utilize their e lucarion, training, experience, and abilities and by aiding them in their progress toward positicms of greater responsibility and personal s:~tisfaction . [t not on.ly se rves the needs of the college and its students but is virally concemed with and directs its service toward the needs of the community, business and industry, the public chool system, and to the State generally. The specific functions of d1e office are to collecr and make available to prospective employer pen:onal data and confidential letters of reference of candidates; main,tnin a cw:rem recor I of employment opportunities; recornmend candidates for po itions at the .request of employers; an-ange for interviews between candidates nnd employers; provide gui lance to candidates seeking positions; bring the needs of the empl.oyer to those who design and in'lplcment the training program; and conduct n follow-up progmm of candidates placed in pvsilions. There is no charge to students or employers for the placement service. Within the limrtations of time and staff, an cffo.~;t is made to assist those who seek the service; h wever, placement cannot be guaranteed. The college rc..~e.rves the right to recommend for placement only those applicants who are adequately qualified for positions they seek. Educational Placement Membership in the Office of Placement is open (l) to graduates of Fresno $tate College qualifying f )r a regular Californifl reaching cred.cntial prior to date of employment; (2) co an}'One with a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution provided he complct s 12 semesrer units ar Fresno Stare College and qualifies for a regr1lnr California reaching credential prio1· co date of employment; (3) to a caodJdnte for :l mastel's degree at Fresno State College; (4) tO anyone with a master's or higher degree from an accredited iustirution provided he completes 12 ·cmcstcr units at Fremo State College. Ci·edential candidates are urged to register with the Offi.te of Placement early tluriug the semester in which they begin their student teaching. Business and Industrial Placement Membersltip in the Office of Phcemenr is opep to all graduate.~ who desire fulltime positions in agricnlcure, business, industry, governmemal agcucies, and orher related fields. Seniors :u:c urged to c:nmplere :~nd file a personal data sheet 'vith the Office of Placement early during the year in whid\ they expect to graduate. Close ::ooperaticm is maintained with the various divisions and departments in the placement of candidates in these fields. Information is also ava il~ble to students and former srudents desiring help in securing full-time em1>loyment.
