40 FRESNO STATE COLLEGE
Effective September 19, 1957, a J.'epeated course has been counted as units llttempted
and is credited. with the appropxiate grade poims earned lly the repetition. Prior co
the fall semester, 1957, the grade made upon repetition was accepted in place of
rhat established earlier and units attempted were not charged. Occasionally a student
wishes to repeat a cotu'Se in which he enrns a C. Such repetition is recorded
on the transcript but is not fignred in unit o.r grnde-poin.t totals.
SCHOLARSHIP STATUS
SATISFACTORY SCHOLARSHIP
Satisfactory scholarship means at least a C average (2.0 grade-point average or
twice as m:~ny grade points as units attempted). A student is considered in good

PROBATION
A sttldcut will be placed upon probation if cirher his grade-point average based
on tOtal units attempted at :ill colleges is below a 2.0 .(C average) or his gradepoint
average based on all units attempted at Freno Stl:tte College is below a
nvcrage. A student will be cominued on probation until his over-all nnd hi
fresno State College grad •-point aver11gc is 2.0 or better, or until he is disqualified

DISQUALIFICATION
A student will be disquallfied (except a student who has nccempt d less than a
total of 6 units at Fresno ::itnte College) under any one of the following provisions:
(n) if he fa i l ~ w enrn '('I~ least a L.O grndc-poi11 t average during any one semester;
(b) if he has been ~dmitt d on probntiou and f:dls to meet rhc conditions of admi -
sion cst:tlJiished at the time of ndmis.ion; (c) if a firsc-semcsrer freshman has a gradepoint
(!clicicnc)' of I or more and fails to reduce rhi. lcncicnc)' co below 13 by the
e-nd of the ncxr semester o£ attendance· (d) if he is on probation nnd has a cumubtive
grade-point deficiency of 13 or more.
REINSTATEMENT AND READMISSION
srudcnt disquali.fied from che college may be reinstated only by speci:li action
and if the facts in the case seem to warrant such action. Ordinarily, consideration
for readmission will not be ~tlven m1less a semester has elapsed since the disqualification.
Srudents who hove been disqualified mo.re than once may not be readn"Litted
except under the most unusual circumstances.
A student 1·erurning after :111 :11Jsence and who has bccll disqualified after his
last term of atreudaucc must file :ttl application with the Admissions Office by the
deadlines specified in the College Calendar.

At mid-term a report is given to all students both as a verification of the student's
ofiicial program and as a report of ruJY unsatisfactory progress.
CREDIT BY EXAMINATION
Credit by examination may be earned in some cases in appropriate courses. For
