PROGRAM PlANNING Freshman studentS should begin co plan their programs as early as possible. A first step, when practical, is to select a major. Degree requirements in each major are listed under the appropriate divisi.on and in the section on degrees and credentials. StudentS will be given help in planning their programs by advisers and counselors, but the primary responsibility for meeting xcquircmems f:~lls on the srudem. ·The catalog should be carefully read and the proper college offices consulted for additional information. The Sc!Jedule of Courses must be followed when planning a parcicuJar semester's program. The following are among the sections students should study carefully: Admissions Algebra and Geometry College Calendar Concurrent Registration Counseling Services Degrees and Credentials Entrance Examinations Extension Credit Fees and Expenses Financial Assistance Foreign Language General Education Housing Probation Registration Regulations-Procedures Repetition of Courses Residence Requirements Scholarship Requirements Statement of Residence Upper Division Credits TRANSFER STUDENTS Students intending to transfer to Fresno State College should plan their programs while attending other colleges to meet cu.rricuJum requirementS of this college. The general degree cegubtions and the requirements in tbe division offering the major selected should be studied for courses and sequences necessary for the degree. See provisions for transfer student io General Ed1~cntion and on transfc1· admission . After admission to Fresno State College, the student will usually receive a copy of his memorandum of sta nding indicating how pi'eviot1s college credits have been applied tOW;lrd 1·equirements at Fresno tate College. If the memor:md\Jm of standing has nor been received before arrival ar the college, the student shoul_d apply after registration foc a def,rree evaluation which will give the same information. Each student should develop n personal folder in which he keeps his own copies of transcripts, grade cards, memorandum of tanding, evaluation sheer, departmental check sheets, and other informacion pertaining to his progress toward meeting various requirementS for his d.egree or credential. Advisers are available foc assistance; however, it is the student's responsibility to be sure that he has met all requirements.
