80 I SPECIAL PROGRAMS MINOR A minor in Asian Studies consists of 21 units, including a minimum of nine upper division units. Specific Requirements: (1) 6--9 units in one of the areas subsumed under Section I or II below; (2) a total of four courses, two (at least 6 units) from Section I and two (at least 6 units) from Section II, but none in the area chosen in Requirement (1); (3) up to three units' of electives from Sections I, II, or III. Independent Study (190) courses in any department may be applied toward the minor as long as they cover some aspect of Asian Studies and are approved by the Coordinator. Unspecified topics courses and seminar courses listed below must cover some aspect of Asia to be counted toward the minor. Section I.
