22 FRESNO STATE COLLEGE 1. College preparatory English. 2. Foreign language. 3. College preparatory mathematics. 4. College preparatory laboratory science. 5. College preparatory history and/or social science. 6. Study in speech, music, art, and other subjects contributing to general academic background. Since certain fields of study require high school preparation in definite subjects, the student should consult the requirements indicated in the field of his choice. In college fields such as engineering, natural science, mathematics, social science, and humanities a maximum number of high school credits should be obtained in appropriate subjects in English, mathematics, science, and foreign languages. ADMISSION OF UNDERGRADUATE TRANSFER STUDENTS Applicants for admission to the state colleges as undergraduate transfers will be considered for admission under one of the following provisions. Applicants who have successfully completed 60 or more transferable semester units or the equivalent are eligible for admission if they have achieved a grade-point average of 2.0 (C) and were in good standing at the last college attended. Nonresident applicants must have earned a grade-point average of at least 2.4 (C plus). Submission of SAT or ACT scores is encouraged, but not required. Applicants who have successfully completed fewer than 60 transferable semester units or the equivalent are eligible for admission if they meet the above requirements cmd the current first-time freshman requirements. Applicants for admission as transfer students who have been continuously enrolled at-a college since graduation from high school are eligible if they meet the first-time freshman rquirements in effect at the time of their high school graduation. Either SAT or ACT test results are required of trar.sfer applicants with fewer than 60 transferable semester units. An applicant with a particular major who does not meet either of the above provisions may be admitted to the college for the purpose of pursuing a major for which appropriate course work is not offered at the college from which he seeks to transfer when he meets all of the following: 1. He has completed all appropriate course work offered. 2. He has attained a grade-point average of 2.0 (C) in all college work attempted. 3. He was in good standing at the last college attended. 4. He can, in the judgment of Fresno State College, succeed in that degree objective. An international (foreign) student is governed by separate requirements. See Student Personnel Services--International Student Counselors Office. REDIRECTION It is not always possible for the college to accommodate all qualified applicants. If an application' is accepted and it later becomes evident that admission will not be possible, the application and any supporting documents will, at the applicant's request, be forwarded to any state college where space is still available. No additional application fee is required. CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS Student class levels are determined as follows: Freshmen-Students who have earned· a total of fewer than 30 semester units. Sophomores-Students who have earned a total of 30 to 59 semester units inclusive. Juniors-Students who have earned a total of 60 to 89 semester units inclusive. Seniors-Students who have earned 90 semester units or more. Graduates-Students who have at least a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
