70 FRESNO STATE COLLEGE AGRICULTURE DIVISION BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN AGRICULTURE The bachelor of science degree in agriculture is gtanted upon completion of a four-year curriculum consisting of 128 semester units selected from one of the major programs. The general requirements fot the bachelor of science degree must be completed (see Degrees and Credentials). The required agricultural courses for majors along with other requirements, are listed in departments as follows: Ag~ cultural Mecbanics Department-agribusiness, agricultural mechanics; Animal Scie11Ce Department-agribusiness, a.nimal husbandry, dairy science, poultry husbandry; Pla1lt SciC1lce Department-agribusiness; agricultural inspection and services, agronomy, horticulture, ornamental horticulture, viticulture and enology. Requirements for the general agxiculture ma·jor are listed below. · BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN AGRICULTURAL ENGINEERING The bachelor of science degree in agricultural engineering requires 136 units (see E1~gineeri1Jg Division) and the completion of .the ·general requirements for the bachelor of science degree (see Degrees and Credentials). The required agriculture courses follow a·selected pattern approved by the head of the Agriculture Division. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN AGRIBUSINESS The bachelor of science degree with a major in agribusiness is granted upon completion of a four-year curriculum· consisting of 128 semester units selected from one of the agribusiness. major opcions in the Agricultural Mechtmics, Animal Science, or Plmt Science Departments, or the Buri11ess Division. The. general education and general requirements for the ·bachelor of science degree must be completed (see Degrees and Oredemials). The agribusiness curriculum prepares srudentll in agt•icuhurt! aw.l busiuess for pO"sitions in operations involved in the ·rnanufaccure of supplies needed on the farm, production operations on the farm, and the storage, distribution, and merchandizing . of agricultural commodities. TECHNICAL AGRICULTURI! Any srudent who has gtaduated from high . school may rna.ke application for admission co the technical agriculture program. Admission to this -program is dependent upon a ·reasonable score on dte entrance · examination (as determined by appropriate college officials) and approval of the head of the Agriculrnre Divi~ sion. Technical agriculture programs stress technical and practical training appropriate to the San Joaquin Valley and include maximum laboratory use . of the college :farm. Seudents may take production programs in · fattening of livestock, growjng of crops; and management of breeding herds, flocks, vineyards, and •orchards and are employed so far as possible to assist with the opefation of the college farm. Students qua}jfy for the three-yeru· tecl1nical agricultute certificate upon completion of the required general education and related courses and one of the technical majors in the Agricultural Mechanics, Animal Science, or Plant Science Departments, with additional selected production courses to malte a total o£ 84 units. ,Approved nonagriculture courses open to restricted technical students: Math 27, 28; Off Ad J; Eng! A, 1, 6; Spch 21; HisL I, 10; Pol Sc 11· DiollA, lB; II Ed 90, 91; PE 10-50 (activities); Mus I (activities); Psych 7; other specified ~ourses re'quired in the program. ·Technical agriculture students enroll in regular agricultute courses with special arrangements· to meet their needs. Students admitted to the technical agriculture program who wish to transfer to the degxee program may peddon the Adm:issi.um Committee for such tr:an fer after completing 60 units at Fresno State College with a C average or better.
