GRADUATE PROGRAMS IN PSYCHOLOGY The graduate programs for the Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Psychology are bas d on the equivalent of the undergraduate major in Psychology at California State University, Fresno. To be classified the student must have a "B" average or better in the core courses of the Undergraduate major in Psychology. The Psychology Graduate Bulletin listing additional prerequisi tes for the various graduate programs is available from the Psychology Department office on request. MASTER OF ARTS DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY The Master of Arts de$ree program in Psychology may erve as preparation for community college teaching, for professional employment requiring a master's degree or for entry into a doctoral program. The program may be arranged' to include interest areas such as general experimental, developmental, and social psychology, as well as special Master of Arts programs for individuals. MASTER OF SCIENCE DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY The Master of cience d gree in Psychology is a 60·unit degree which can be either an ultimate degree or qualify one for entry into a doctoral program. The only clinical program in the Psychology department is offered under thi.~ degree plan which can be coordinated with developmental psychology or School Psychology pursu,its. early half he units are Field work practicum and intern work. The second year is partially spent in intern placements. Introduction to P1ychology (4) ot open to students with more than six units in psychology. Introduction to psychology as an empirical science; biological and social bases of behavior; scientific principles of psychology in p rception, learning, motivation, intelligence and personality. (3 lecture, 2lab hours) 36. Introduction to P1ychophyslology (3) Functioning of the brain in lellrning, memory, language, motivation, and emotion; human physiological correlates of emotional states, pain, dreaming; control of brain waves and internal states. 60T. P1ychology as a Behavioral Science (2-5; max total 6 if no taplc repeated) Problems in approaching man as a social animnl; sections in basic or applied processes in per ·onaiHy, int rp rsonal relations, socinl environment, and group participation. (Some sections may have lab hours.)
