The nature of reading; methods and materials for teaching reading skill s; provision for individual differences (ethnic, socio-economic, dialectal) ; theories, programs and organizations; stimulation of interest improvement in oral reading and phonics. (2 lecture, 2 lab hours) 161. Methods and Materials In Secondary Teaching {3) Prerequisite: S Ed 152, admission to credential program or teaching experience. A methods course in secondary school subjects. Instructional procedures, techniques, and resources for teaching; appraisal of instructional innovations; classroom organization and management; measurement and evaluative techniques. 164.
