Inihe academic year of "90-'(%l. CSUF senior Susan Shweiki served as chair of lhc Campus Children's Center Expansion Committee. Shc succeeded in raising S150,000 that is now invested in thc additional Campus Children's Center located in lhc new Education Building. In '91-'92, Shwciki was a founding board member of lhc Women's Resource Center and founder as well as pasi president of Single Parent Students Organization. Concurrently, shc was ihc viccpresi- dcni of Chicanos and Law. This year, Shwciki was project development and coordinator of the new Children's Activity Room in lhe library, that is known io be the firsl in the nation. Shc has also worked on a siatc wide coun- cil tor Today's Advocates for Students with Children (TASC), which is also the first in lhc nation. Shweiki has also worked with lhe Associated Students, Inc. in the past. She has served on the Academic Affairs Committee for onc year and Campus Children's Center Advisory Board for more than two years. Tommy Monrcal, journalism junior with ncws-cdilorial and pholo journalism emphasis, said because of his involvement with campus media, he's aware of ASI's problems, with noihing being accomplished due to the political fights, and wishes people would listen to each other andcommunicatc more cf fec- tively, so that agendas and m inutcs don' t take 15 minutes of fighting before Ihcy arc approved. Monrcal has worked with Chicano Journalism Association, Chicano Empowerment Association and Migrant Studenl Association, where hc raised $400 for a scholarship by taking portrait photos at a dance earlier this semester.
