The Prophetess merges sight and sound at Cadillac Club By Nina Momjian StaffWriter Los Angeles based band Thc Prophetess will be appearing ai the Cadillac Club in an all-ages show. Thc Prophetess plays guitar-on- entcd modem rock music, influenced by lhc underground Darkwavc movement in Europe and England. This sound can be described as a post-punk interpretauonof the 1970s an rock styles, heavy with mysucal imagery and psychadclic guitar lines. Thc Prophetess has released a self- titled CD, which is distributed by Caroline Records. They also have two previously released cassettes that have rccieved international airplay on underground and college radio stations. Lead singer and keyboardist/guitarist Mark Hawks is fully conscious of the band's purpose when performing. "Wc don't want to just stand there likemannequinsandpumpoutscxind," hc explains, "Wc want to give our fans a total experience. Wc want to create moods and atmospheres with each song. How wc effect thc audience is very important to us." Thc Prophetess will perform at Cadillac Club tomorrow night at 9:30 p.m. and doors open at 9 p.m. Admission is S4 and will also include a performance by local band Thc Shroud.
