March 29, 1944_________________PIONEER______________Page 5 NISEI POTPOURRI By Roy Yoshida CAUSE AND EFFECT LIFE is humdrum? Don't you believe it!Life isn't, but you can easily make it so. It depends on the ap- preciation of cause and ef- fect. If you realize that nothing happens without a cause, you can become not only big-minded, but big- hearted. You can then vi- sualize life's picturesque- ness. This cause and effect is nothing but the percep- tion of natural course of events-an evolution. To you whom evolution is just a word, you look at-well, snow for instance as just one of nature's many spec- tacles, which you can see even in Amache. To you whom cause and effect hold some sort of rhyme and rea- son, see more than just snow. You see something which day before yesterday was water, which yesterday was vapor and which tomor- row may be an iceberg. WHAT has that to do with your daily life? More than you may think. Cause and effect is found everywhere. For example: Why were the people attending the Sunday night's "Call To Colors" ball smiling? Be- cause they were having a wonderful time. Here was the EFFECT, but what was the CAUSE that brought a- bout this effect. Why did they have a wonderful time? You may say because the dance was grand, because the entertainment was good, because the novel night club atmosphere was super. 0 guy s and gals, that wasn’t the reason-that wasn't the CAUSE. It was because a bunch of good people got together and worked a wee bit harder to give you a wonderful time-there's the cause. Now, they didn't have to go thru all that trouble and worry. It was besides their regular work. They could have more easily "forked out" two-bits for a bid and let somebody else do all the running around. But they wanted to give the inductees a swell send-off, and thought it was worth making a good job of it. They became not only big-minded,but big-hearted. And because they had something worthwhile to do, they had no time to think about life being hum-drum. They sought no accolade,no flattering remarks. Their only reward was your satis- faction. And if that was achieved then the EFFECT was certainly worth the CAUSE. SCHOOL ATHLETIC FUND BENEFIT GAMES TUESDAY Amache high school athletic fund benefit basket- games will be spon- sored by the CA athletic department Tuesday night in the high school gym, announces James Hanamura of the CA division. Double-A All-Stars will meet the Amache Indians varsity in the feature con- test. Local school cagers boast an impressive, lop- sided win over the single- A All-Stars last Sunday, which should make this con- test a " hum-dinger.” In the preliminary tilt the Ramlin’ Ramblerettes will take on their cross- town rivals, the Granada high girls sextet. Tip- off is slated for 7 o'clock. Entire proceeds of the evening will go to the school athletic fund with no strings attached. All officials are donating their services.
