March 22, 1944____________________PIONEER________________Page 3 TICKETS ON SALE FOR SUNDAY'S BALL The community activities division has placed on sale Monday the bids for their grand "Call T o Colors" dance and floorshow slated for this Sunday evening in the high school auditorium amid night club atmosphere. This affair is being spon- sored in honor of Amache youths who will leave Mon- day for induction Into the armed services. Bids may be obtained, while they last, at the PIONEER office and the 8F recreation center for a nominal price of 25 cents. SENIOR HIGH MUSIC DEPARTMENT TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT TODAY The annual spring concert sponsored by the Amache Senior high school music department will be presented Friday evening, 7:30 o'clock, at the high school audi- torium. The program is under the direction of Charles Hinman and Miss Noreen Klein, music instructors. Performances for the evening will include numbers by the glee club, band, trio and the sextet. No admission charges will be made and the public is cord- ially invited to attend. KIDDIES’ FREE SHOWS SATURDAY Whoopee, kids! It’s here again. Free movies spon- sored by the community ac- tivities to be shown Satur- day at Terry Hall ,9 o'clock in the morning and 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Children possessing blue tickets will be admitted in the morning and those holding orange colored passes ad- mitted for the second show- ing. You kiddies are in for a real treat as the film slated is "Peck's Bad Boy with the Circus," a humor- ous and entertaining story of a lovable young rascal who is always getting into trouble. From Friday, “Wings in The Dark,” casting Myrna Loy, Cary Grant and roscoe Karns, in the leading roles, will begin its four-day run. Filled with tragedy, heroism and happiness, the film depicts thrilling ro- mantic tale of the develop ment of aviation. --JO 2000th PERSON TO LEAVE CENTER To Mrs. Cherry Teru- ko Hotta, 11H-4A, goes the distinction of being the 2000th person to be granted an indefinite leave from this center. Her husband,Edward Hiro- shi Hotta,received"walk- ing paper" no. 2001 to start off a new"series." The Hottas,with their son,Tomihiro Edward, are scheduled to leave for Boystown, Nebr., on Mar. 28 to accept a job offer, according to Mario Vec- chio, center relocation advisor. TO REORGANIZE “LITTLE THEATER” Plans for the reorga- nization of a "Little The- ater,"under the leadership of Esther Takei, will be discussed, at a special meeting this evening, 7 o' clock, at the 8F recrea- tion hall, according to Taka Aratani of the commu- ity activities. BOOST ON POSTAL RATES EFFECTIVE SUNDAY Yep, dig deeper brother, for the postal rates on air mail, packages, local mail, registered mail, COD, and money order fee are to be boosted up, effective Sunday, Mar. 26, according to H.R. Smith, Amache postmaster, Monday. The added pinches include local mail, which now goes for 2 cents will be abolished; all such mail will be 3 cents; air mail jumps to 8 cents; packages will cost approximately a penny more depending on the weight, and COD fees will be doubled. Money order rates go up accordingly, starting from 10 cents for orders less than $2.50 and 37 cents for orders between $80 and $100. Registered mail rates range between 20 cents to $1.35 instead of the former 18 cents to $1. Post cards will remain the same, and since special delivery mail is not listed, there will be no increase.
