The first step in pre- venting a cold is to mingle with people (or monkeys) who have colds and swap sneezes for a whole evening instead of isolating your- self. Then take all the pet cares and medicine year neighbors can think of. Never call a doctor. He gets too nosey and before you know it you'll find yourself in bed. When a friend drops in for a chat,keep the windows wide open or superheat the room. At any rate, enjoy the fresh air! If he (or a she male) suggests a movie, by all means go. Keep awake 'til a late hour --show the germs who's boss! If you really think you're coming down with a cold, eat heartily. Take nothing but rich, heavy food such as a nice, thick steak with all the trimmings. Trash such as fruit juices, water, milk or soap should never be touched. And finally, if you have tried all the mentioned suggestions and haven't contacted (pneumonia)--get set for the draft or commit hara-kiri. SO YOU LIKE FISH? Maybe this is why there is no response to the cen- ter slaughterhouse's call for workers. At any rate the weekly quota of butcher- ing 30 heads of swine and 16 heads of beef cattle must be filled. Rumors are that if the labor problem becomes too critical there will be a noticeable short- age of meat on the mess tables. To you vegetarians: no worry. To you ardent "must have meat" lovers: A problem! SOUND ADVICE- According to a Professor of Home Economics in a midwestern university, 65 per cent of all divorces are caused because the male feels the female is his intellectual inferior. The professor relates that as time goes by, the husband becomes convinced that his wife is less intelligent than he is and nothing she does satisfies him anymore. The food doesn't taste right or the darn in the sock hurts his toes. This is leap year,bache- lors-at-present, so if any girl "pops the question,” ask her for her college degree first! NO SOAP! Says one Eskimo: “Light- house no good for fog. Light shine, whistle blow, bell ring like hell. And fog, she come in just the same! JACK ITO INSTALLED AS NEW SCOUTMASTER OF TROOP 162 Jack Ito was installed as Scoutmaster of Troop 162 at the first anniversary Troop 161-162 program held Sunday evening at the 7F mess hall, according to Scout Commissioner Ed M. Tokunaga. Other promotions made are Russell Yamaga to Assist- ant Scoutmaster; Miles Ha- mada and Frank Morimoto, junior assistant scout- masters; and Kenji Yamaga, senior patrol leader, for Troop 162. Taro Fuchigami was named Assistant Scoutmaster; Su- mito Nabeta,junior assist- ant scoutmaster; and Stan- ley Marumoto,senior patrol leader, for Troop 161. Eight candidates from each troop were inducted as Tenderfoot scouts in an impressive candlelight ceremony . Dr.Takashi Terami,main speaker, addressed the parents of the Scouts, who were honored guests. Stunts, performances and demonstrations rounded out the evening's program with Kenji Yamaga as emcee. Y’s way The Co-eds will have their installation followed by an out-coming social Friday evening at the Hos- pitality House. Las Ninas, Tri-Delts and ABC members are the honored guests. -Y- With "You’ll Never Know" as the theme,the Patricians will hold a dance at the Hospitality House Saturday Evening. Members of the Tri-Delts, Las Ninas, Meta-Adelphons, the Spurs and friends will be guests. Jayne Sato will be the mistress of ceremonies. $30.55 RAISED FOR MARCH OF DIMES Las Allegrias, high school girls service or- ganization, raised $30.55 in the infantile paralysis drive through contributions received by the students lst week, according to Advisor Steener. SERVICE MOTHERS IN 4TH LOAN DRIVE The Blue Star Mothers launched its Fourth War Loan Drive campaign yest er- day, according to Mrs. S. Masuoka, president of the club. Stamps and bonds are being sold dailv at the hospitality House during regular office hours. Center canvassing will underway this week by the members. PRE-DRAFT COURSE OPEN TO STUDENTS A pre-induction course will be emphasized instead of the heretofore important pre-relocation subject in the classrooms, announces the high school office. Since many students are eligible for selective ser- vice, some members of the faculty are already work- ing on this course to be taught in the near future. ©AMACHE Church NEWS A round table discussion on "Memorial Services For the Dead "will be conducted by Unosuke Karatsu at the Seicho-No-Iye meeting to- morrow night,7 o'clock, at the 9H recreation hall. Selected readings and the Shinsokwan prayer will be included in the evening's service. There will be a YBA cabinet meeting tomorrow evening, 7 o'clock, at Dick Iseri's apartment, 8G-8A.
