Page 4______________________PIONEER__________________January 26, 1944 HOSPITAL NEWS The tuberculosis ward in our center hospital which opened in November of 1942 has admitted a to- tal of 35 patients to date. Of this number, 7 patients have already been dismiss- ed. And all these arrested cases have been re-examined every three months to pre- vent recurrence and all family members of the pa- tients have been examined every six months. This precautionary step is taken to detect the in- fection early so that no one suspected of tubercu- losis will transmit to others. We have not discovered all the tuberculosis cases in our center,however every effort is being mustered to uncover them and provide the proper treatment.--Dr. Sosaburo Yamada. -H- Interne Robert- Obi, a member of the medical staff since the hospital's orga- nization, was given a fare- well dinner Sunday evening at the hospital mess. Obi relocated to Detroit, Mich., Monday, where he will apprentice at the Harper Hospital research labora- tory. -H- The out patient clinic waiting room will be enlarged as soon as approval from Washington is received,ac- cording to Dr. William T. SINO-JAPANESE HARMONY EXISTS IN OMAHA AREA The "invading" sons of Nippon into Chinese strong- hold were greeted with open arms, states the Jan. 16 edition of the World-Herald in a full-page spread head- ed "Sino-Japanese Peace in Omaha." The King Fong cafe stands as the stronghold which now employs three relo- catees as wait ers from the Tule Lake center. Chinese Manager George Beck who has served the Chinese col- ony for many years states that Sino-Japanese relations are excellent, at least in Omaha. The trio--Kazuo Kay Nit- ta, Sen Fujii and Roy Naka- to--is typical of the 125 Jap a n e s e Americans now living and working in Omaha, continues the World-Herald. Others mentioned in the picture spread are Masako Matsunami, fur seamstress; Amile Okasaki and Jack Kaya, hotel fountain boys;Yashao and Masao Tomita, hotel workers; Flora Kakehashi and Terry Takatsuno, of- fice workers; and Takao Misaki and Yosaku Henry Katayama, watch repair. WOMEN'S SOCIETY RE-ELECTS KAMIYA Mrs. S. Kamiya was re- elected president of the Amache Women's Federation at an election held at the Hospitality House Thursday. Others on the cabinet are Mrs. C. Tatara, vice- president and representa- tive of social welfare ad- visory board; Mrs. H. Shi- zuru, Japanese secretary; Mrs. M. Murai, executive secretary; Mrs. T. Terami, treasurer; and Mrs. Ohama, Red Cross representative. Regular meeting of the club will be held on the first Thursday of each month. VITAL ====STATISTICS==== BIRTH: To Mr. and Mrs. Satoru Katayama, 12H-12D, a girl, Jan. 24. ===AMACHE Church NEWS A young people's Fellow- ship Hour, sponsored by the Amache Seventh-Day Ad- ventist Church, will be held at the 9H recreation hall tonight,7:00 o'clock. o O o A special Bible class will be conducted by the Amache Seventh-Day Adven- tist Church tomorrow night, 7 o'clock, at the 9H rec- reation hall. All interested persons are invited to attend. oOo Dr. P. A. "Webber, relo- cation officer of Salt Lake City, is slated to meet with the members of the Amache Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Webger was formerly connected with the Seventh-day Adventist school in Tokyo, Japan. oOo A discussion on “The Living of Seicho-No-Iye” will be conducted by Unosuke Karatsu at the 12G recrea- tion hall tomorrow night, 7 o’clock. The Shinsokwan prayer, selected readings from Seicho-No-Iye Scripture and magazine will also be included in the evening’s service.
