Page 4________________________PIONEER____________January 15, 1944 ELEMENTARY STUDENT COUNCIL SCRAP PAPER DRIVE UNDERWAY A scrap paper salvage drive sponsored by the ele- mentary school student council is underway this week with successful re- sults thus far, according to Miss Gwendolyn Collin, council adviser. The scrap paper collected by the members of the coun- cil are being stored in 8H recreation hall. Subse- quently, the paper will be sent first to Lamar and then to Pueblo for reprocess. "All this is voluntary work and is a great con- tribution to the nation's war effort bv the Amache children," stated Miss Col- lin. If residents will cooperate with the members of the council to bring this paper drive to a suc- cessful conclusion, it will be greatly appreciated, she added. GRADE SCHOOL LACKS TEACHERS Lack of teachers in the elementary school forced the dismissal of children from two classes this week, according to Dr. Enoch Du- mas, elementary school prin- cipal. Thus in order to give our sisters, brothers and children the proper educa- tion, an appeal is being made to anyone capable of teaching to immediately contact the elementary school office. COMMENT FAVORABLY ON AMACHE SCHOOLS The Board of Consultants who inspected the Amaehe schools Monday and Tuesday commented favorably on the educational facilities here, according to Lloyd A. Gar- rison, superintendent of education. Lack of adequate health facilities in the 8H schools was stressed by the board members, but under exist- ing conditions it is im- possible to provide them adequately. The Consultants were surprised to find that very few young people attended the night classes. DATE CHANGED The 12 H social sched- uled for tonight has been postponed to Jan. 22. SHIRONAKA, NOT ABE The executive committee of district (I) is Harry Shironaka, not Shiro Abe as previously announced. ====LOST===== Lady’s gold wrist watch with snake chain bracelet, tinted dial and black nu- merals near the elementary school grounds.
