Janurary 8, 1944__________________PIONEER______________Page 3 BOB IZUMI, FIRST NISEI ACCEPTED AS AIR CADET DES MOINES, Ia.---Bob Izumi, formerly of Sawtelle, Calif., became what is be- lieved to be the first nisei to be accepted as civil air patrol cadet here two weeks ago. Izumi left the Manzanar relocation center last year on a NYW training offer, and had been doing odd jobs around Des Moines when that arrangement didn't materia- lize. The CAP, which has been active in this area on a patrol work and in arousing youth interest in flying, will enable Izumi to study ground operation of planes and will help him to learn to fly. Izumi applied and was accepted last month on reaching 17, the CAP cadent acceptance age. AG BOYS TO VISIT LIVESTOCK SHOW Fifteen vocational ag- rigulture boys, accompanied by Lorenso J. Burgart and Frank Watanabe, instructors, will leave next Sunday, Jan.16, to attend the Den- ver national Livestock Show. Each boy must pay his own trip expenses. 26 REPRESENTATIVES TAKE OATH OF OFFICE TUESDAY Twenty-six representa- tives begin their six-month term of office to the Com- munity Council, Tuesday. The following members were elected to take of- fice for the coming six months: chairman, Shiro Abe; vice-chairman, Frank Masao Watanabe; secretary, Takao Fuchigami; and trea- surer, Roy Iizuka. Executive committee: District (I) - Shiro Abe; (II)-Seitaro Fukuhara; (III) -Edward Kitazumi; (IV)-Roy Uragami; and (V) -Hajime Takata.
