SILK SCREEN SHOP MAY RECEIVE CONTRACT TO PRINT DIPLOMAS FOR ALL WRA CENTERS Possibility of printing school diplo- mas for all the relocation centers by the Amache Silk Screen Shop was stated this week in a communication received from E. J. Utz, WRA director of industry of Washington DC,declared Maida G. Camp- bell, supervisor of the local shop. Engraved High school diplomas in the various schools in relocation centers are prohibited, according to Utz, and the silk screen process was brought into consideration. At present, the approximate cost of the diplomas,time and equipment necessary for printing and all minor details are under computation. The return confirmation of the contract may take about a month or two but "the shop is always ready, willing and able for such a production,"added Miss Campbell. Customary gifts were bestowed to the son from Lamar merchants. For permanent residents of the county, the first birth registered is a son to Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Trout of Hartman on Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m. LOCAL WRA STAFF SETS WAR LOAN DRIVE GOAL AT $14,234 With the slogan "Over for Top for Invasion” the Fourth War Loan drive of- ficially began yesterday for the WRA staff, reports Project Director James G. Lindley. The goal of $14,234 - 35 per cent of one month's gross payroll will be surpassed,he says. A total of $9,600 of the quota represents the staff's present payroll deductions for War Bonds for the two- month period of the drive . The balance $4,634 is to be met either by increased payroll bond deductions or by extra cash purchases during January and February. At present the staff is put- ting more than 12 percent of its gross payroll into War Bonds each month. "We are proud of our present Bond-buying record and of the cooperation of the staff in the Third War Loan last fall," Lindley states. "But we know our efforts are small when com- pared with those of the men on the fighting fronts,and we expect every staff mem- ber to meet and if possible surpass his quota in this Fourth War Loan." Opportunity for center- wide participation in the Fourth War Loan will be given all Amache residents in a program to be announ- ced soon by W.Ray Johnson, assistant project director. SUMITOMO BANK PETITIONS FOR 1OO PER CENT DIVIDEND A 100 per cent first dividend payment on all approved claims against the Sumitomo Bank of Califor- nia loomed a possibility, according to information released by Project Attor- ney Donald T. Horn. A pe- tition to that effect bias been filed By the Sumitomo Bank with the California's Superintendent of Banks and will come up for hear- ing on Feb. 7. Only American citizens and persons of Japanese descent licensed either generally or specifically by the united States Secre- tary of Treasury are eli- gible to file claims. Aliens with "Blocked" accounts or those considered "blocked" or " enemy" nationals by the United States govern- ment will receive no funds. ARM RELINQUISHES TULE LAKE RULE The return of Tule Lake segregation center to full civilian administration was announced last Friday by the War Department and the WRA, according to a tele- type received By James G. Lindley, project director. Relinquishment of mili- tary authorities "followed re-establishment of peace- ful conditions within the center, the communique stated. FINANCIAL AID DIGEST AVAILABLE Digest for the summary of United States govern- mental agencies, which are authorized to provide vari- ous types of financial as- sistance, may be obtained from Katsuki Iki,executive secretary of the relocation information bureau at the west end of the PIONEER building. The names of each agen- cies, proper persons and their addresses,for secur- ing aid, the various types of assistance have been abstracted from the United States government manual for this digest by the Ama- che relocation information BAGGAGE HAULING UNDER MOTOR POOL The responsibility of transporting baggage be- longing to prospective, re- locatees to the Granada de- pot has been assumed by the motor pool department, states Clyde Shrader, motor pool supervisor. Any relocatee who desires this service must register his name and address 24 hours ahead of departure time. Baggage will be picked up in the afternoon between 1 and 2 o'clock.
