Page 6_______________PIONEER_______________December 1, 1943 Y’s way The Girl Reserve clubs are sponsoring a tea party this Sunday afternoon at the Hospitality House in honor of Mrs. Anna Mow, one of the speakers of the Christian Mission, with Misake Kawaguchi,president of the Las Ninas, as hostess. Assisting Miss Kawaguchi will be the "Wee Teeners, gereral arrangements; Spurs, refreshments; Pimpernels, program; Las Ninas, publicity; Tri Delts, ushering; and Meta Adelphons,Patricians, and Juniorettes, clean-up. -Y- The Amache YWCA sent shell articles, crocheted articles, lapel ornaments, and handwork made by the residents to the Kansas State College YWCA at Man- hattan, Kans., to be sold at the annual Christmas Bazaar. -Y- Presidents and members- at-large of the Wee Teeners, Gamma Rhos , Pimpernels, Tri Delts, Las Ninas, Meta Adelphons, and Spurs met at the Hospitality House Sunday afternoon with Tosh- iko Tabara, president of the Meta Adelphons,presid- ing . As this was the first meeting since the organiza- tion of three new GR clubs, Yoshiye Mizoue,Helen Toyama, and Fumi Sakaguchi, pres- idents of the Gamma Rhos, Spurs,and Pimpernels, res- pectively, were introduced. Activities for most clubs for the past month have been elections and instal- lations of officers while the Gamma Rhos, Pimpernels, Tri Delts, and Spurs are still planning ceremonies for their newly-elected officers. -Y- Miss Kate Watanabe,for- mer adviser of the Silver- ines,was chosen co-adviser to Jean Mori of the Gamma Rhos at their meeting Sun- day. The Gamma Rhos attended the installation ceremony of the Las Ninas Saturday night in preparation for their own ceremony sched- uled for this coming Sun- day. -Y- Mrs. Kawaguchi, adviser and several members of the Spur cabinet met at the Hospitality House Friday night to discuss duties of officers and plan a club calendar for the coming months with Hana Uno, Y secretary. TAKAHASHIS FACE HOSTILITY IN RECENT WEST COAST VISIT SAN FRANCISCO--Japanese find it uncomfortable to visit California lust now even when under military permit and escorted by WRA. That’s the statement of Mrs. Yoshiko Takahashi, 56, Japanese alien, formerly a Resident of Oakland, who has asked for immediate return to the WRA camp at Topaz, Utah, on the ground that much hostility has been shown her. Mrs. Takahashi,who lived in Oakland for 24 years before being excluded from the defense area came to Oakland with her two sons, Framl 21, and Yoneo, 19, under a permit from Western Defense Command to visit her husband, Chiyuzaimon Takahashi, ill in a hos- Pital at San Leandro since 1938. Mrs. Frances M. Farrell of the WRA accompanied the Japanese family. Mrs. Far- rell complained to WRA in San Francisco that hotel accommodations which had been reserved in advance by WRA were denied at San Leandro and that the Jap- anese felt that in general so much hostility had been displayed that they wished return to Topaz at once. KAWAMURA WEDS NAOKO KAJIOKA Naoka Kajioka became tbe bride of George Kawa- mura in an impressive per- ceremony officiated by Rev. Hirota, Saturday evening At the 7H church. A reception followed the ceremony at 7G mess hall with 250 guests attending. John Takamuira acted as toastmaster with Tomio Matsu- oka entertainment chair- man. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Yakichi Kajioka,formerly of Cortez, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otokichi Kawamura from Walnut Grove.______________________________ CHURCH SERVICES SATURDAY Event Time Place SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST Children's Sabbath school 8:30 a.m. 9H Adult Sabbath school (issei) 9:30 a.m. 9H English Sabbath school 11:00 a.m. 9H Sermon 2:00 p.m. 9H Vespers 6:00 p.m. 9H___ A baptismal service is being planned, by the local Seventh-Day Adventist church sometime this week, if weather is permissible. This service will be conducted at the Arkansas river. Reverend Alfred T. Okohira of the Poston re- location center will be the officiating clergy- man._ - oOo - Pastor George Kiyabu of the Seventh-Day Adventist church attended a two-day meeting with the Colorado conference workers of the SDA in Denver last week, and returned Friday. A Sabbath Thanksgiving party was held for the chil- dren last Thursday at the 9H recreation hall under the SLA sponsorship. Special holiday food bags with fruit and candy were distributed. -oOo- A young people's fellow- ship hour, under the spon- sorship of the Amache Seven- th-Day Adventist church, is scheduled for tonight at 7 o’clock, 9H recreation hall. Community singing and special music will be fea-tured. - oOo- Discussion on “Curing From Illness by Spiritual Awakening” will be con- ducted by Unosuke Karatsu at the 12G recreation ball to- morrow, 7:00 p.m. Selected readings and the Shirisokwan prayer will be included in the service,
