Ten per cent of the net savings was allocated to the general reserve account, while an additional four per cent of the net savings was set aside for education purposes. Six per cent per annum Was established as the rate of interest to be paid on membership certificates for the fiscal, period. HOSPITAL SOCIAL IS POSTPONED The hospital social sche- duled for tonight, which included entertainment from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the high school auditorium, and the ondo dance from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., is postponed until further notice, ac- cording to the social com- mittee. CHANGES MADE IN THE APPOINTED PERSONNEL The personnel office re- ports the following changes in the appointed-personnel staff for this center. Theodore F. Staeffler has been appointed to take William B. Wroth's position as construction and main- tenance supervisor. Wroth will take over the position of senior civil engineer, which was previously held by Ralph O'Rourke who left the project. Jack G. Bohon has been changed from auditor to associate fiscal accountant, a new position on the staff. Herbert Weiler is now the project auditor, tak- ing Bohon's place. Weiler was the former assistant fiscal accountant. Charles R. Tullock has recently been appointed the automotive-part store- keeper. New senior storekeeper is Joseph J, Donnegan, who took over the position Fri- day. Anna L.Robertson, whose position was only temporary, is now the permanent tele- phone operator for the cen- ter. PROMOTIONS ARE GRANTED TO 297 CAMP SHELLY MEN CAMP SHELBY, Miss.--The following sergeants and staff sergeants are among the 297 enlisted men of the 442nd combat team promoted this week: To be staff sergeants: Sgt. Yas Kitagawa, Sacra- mento; Sgt. Toru Kuramoto, Auburn, Wash.; Sgt. Michie M. Miyamoto, San Francisco; Sgt. Seiichi Minami, Pos- ton; Sgt. Thomas H. Imai, Salinas, Calif.; and T/4 George S. Eto, Gardena, Calif. To be sergeants: T/4 James P. Abe, Seal Beach, Calif.; Cpl. Kay Ryugo, Sacramento; T/5 Thomas K. Kariya, Layton, Utah; T/4 Edward T. Ohata, Seattle, Wash.; Pvt. William U. Starting a four-day run from Monday is, "The Rains Came," starring Myrna Loy, Tyrone Power, and George Brent, in a screen adaptation of Bromfield's famous book of an East-meets-West ro- mance. It is a story about an American girl visiting India and falling in love with an Indian prince whose people object to his ro- mance, filled with adven- ture and excitement with beautiful and magnificent scenes. Latest reports from a recent block managers' meeting on the mess-hall situation is that 11 blocks oppose the showing of movies in their mess halls. Un- less this problem is ironed out, movies may be discon- tinued without notice. At press time, the mess halls listed above for shows this week end may be cancelled by the respective block managers. In any event, cancellation of movies will be an action of the block managers. -Sueo Sako ELEMENTARY SCHOOL WILL OPEN TUESDAY Elementary school stu- dents from first to sixth grades are to report to 8H school block Tuesday. They will find lists on room doors on which they are assigned to certain groups. Rooms 7C,7D, 7E are as- signed to first graders; rooms 8D, 8C, and 8E, sec- ond graders; rooms 6C, 6B, and 5B,third graders;rooms 11HE, 11D, and 11C, fourth graders;rooms 12D/12E, and 12C, fifth graders; and rooms 10D, 10B, 11B, and 12B, sixth graders.
