AMACHE ALL-STARS TREK TO BRISTOL johnnie presents by tsuruta FIRST TRIPLE PLAY The first triple kil- ling of the season was seen- Tuesday evening, when the Skibos met the Mercuries in an A league fracas. With a man on first and second and no outs, Merc George Matsuda lined a hot one to pitcher Ted Abe for the first out. Ted then picked off the man at first, and Shiro Kawamura, first sacker, in turn picked off the man on second who had started for third. The drive appeared to be a sure hit but Abe handled it beautifully. It cut short a Mercury rally in the sec- ond. The Mercs, however, won the game 5-2. ===STANDING=== AA BASEBALL SECOND HALF W L Pct. Motor Pool 2 0 1.000 Dodgers 1 0 1.000 Dusters 1 1 .500 Deltans 0 1 .000 Knines 0 2 .000 PLAY PROWERS COUNTY ALL-STARS TOMORROW The Amache All-Stars, a team composed of members of the Motor Pool, Deltan, and Duster teams, will trek to Bristol to meet the Prowers county All-Stars at 2: 30p.m., in their first outside game of the season. Players of the Knines and Dodger teams will not make the trip as they will meet, here on the local diamond at 2 p.m. Nothing definite is known of the opponents' power but it is reported that they have a former San Di- ego Padre (Pacific Coast league) chucker, and sever- al former college stars on the squad. The local aggregation will depend largely on the Motor Pool to keep them in the game, with the Dusters and Deltans bolstering the weak spots. The latter two teams are scheduled for a game tomorrow morning on the local field while the Motormen bye. Probable starting bat- tery for the locals will be the Motor Pool boys with Joe Nakamura or Jack Otani on the hill and Harry Okada or Tad Ono, donning the mask. Deltan-Duster Contest; Knine-Dodger Game Slated The first-half champs, the Deltans, will tangle with the unpredictable Dusters at the 10F field tomorrow morning at 9 o'- clock in an AA league af- fair. The Deltans drew a bye last week and will be play- ing their second game of the second half. They lost the-opener to the Motor Pool by a 10-6 count. The Dust- ers copped their first tilt against the Knines, 10-7, but lost last week to the re-vamped Dodgers, 7-5. Tomorrow's tilt should be a thriller if it dupli- cates the first meeting of the two teams, when the Deltans won a close one, 4-3. The Delta boys will be favored but the Dusters gang will bear watching, especially with Hobi Fuji- u’s return to the inner garden. Probable starting bat- teries : Deltans--Lefty Ni- shijima and Tom Ioka; Dust- ers--John Niizawa or Bob Umekubo and Chick Kunisaki. At 2p,m., the hard-luck Knines will meet the dark- horse Dodgers outfit in another AA tilt. The Knines, though seem- ingly forsaken by Lady Luck, will still be tabbed to cop the fray, but may find it not so easy to re- peat their first win over the Dodgers, when they slaughtered Mas Hoshino's boys, 9-1. The Dodger s squad will be augmented by the addition of two stel- lar newcomers, Edwin and Henry Hashioka, which should make up for the departure of infielder Frank Shoji. Probable starting bat- teries: Knines--Yuk Miya- moto and Joe Harada or Shi- ro Nomura; Dodgers--John Arishita and Nob Kuwatani. The Scrapper- Raider tilt is scheduled for 3 p.m. The Raiders should take the contest, but the hustling Scrappers cannot be counted short. Probable starting bat- teries: Scraps--Sueo Sako and Yosh Otani; Raids--Bob Shiro and Hank Hamanishi. MATSUDA CHUCKS MERCS TO VICTORY With pitcher George Ma- tsuda whiffing 10 batsmen, the undefeated Mercuries kept pace with the Motor Pool in the A league pen- nant chase by winning their fourth tilt, against the Skibos,5-2, Tuesday at the 10F diamond.
