This loss for the locals evened the series with a win for each team. The Prowers boys started the scoring as they crossed the plate once in the open- ing stanza on two errors and a hit. Motor Pool Swamps Dodgers In Lopsided, 20-8, Count Headed straight for the 2nd-half title, the unde- feated Motor Pool gang slaughtered the hapless, hopeless Dodgers, 20-8, in an AA league game at the 10F diamond Sunday morning. The victors, sparked by lead-off man Frank Matsuta- ni's four-bagger over the right fielder's head, slashed across four runs in the 1st frame. Coming back strong, the Dodgers punched in two in their half of the canto, and got two more in the next bracket to tie up the count. A run in the 3rd by the Motor Pool sent them ahead again, 5-4. The game, expected to be a close one with both teams playing heads-up, blew up for the Dodgers in the 5th, when Romeo Kitagawa relieved John Arishita on the hill, and was pounded for 15 runs in the remaining innings. The Dodgers got one more in the 7th when speedster Dave Matsushima belted a homer into left field with a man aboard, and added another two in the final in- ning to bring their total to eight for the day. Dodger newcomer, Harry Fukumitsu, former Skibo, played good defensive ball at the short patch. Bespectacled Jack Otani went the route for the Motormen and gave up eight hits. KNINES TRIPPED 8TH INNING RALLY GIVES DELTANS CLOSE VICTORY The high-flying Deltans came from behind in the 8th inning to trip the Knines, 9-7, in a closeAA tilt at the 10F field Sunday afternoon. Going into the top half of the 8th,the Knines clung to a 7-5 advantage and the hope of upsetting the Delta boys, but their advantage was short-lived and their hope of victory went sky- high. Two costly errors and a walk filled the bags for the Deltans and rookie Shiro Kawamura came through with a Texas leaguer scoring two runs to tie up the game. Tim Sasabuchi grounded out but sent home the winning run,and Flu Inaba's single brought an additional tally. Southpaw Grove Yoshiwara started on the mound for the Deltans and chucked six innings, giving up four hits and two runs during that time. Sasabuchi replaced Yo- shiwara and ran into imme- diate trouble as a walk and an error followed by Sam Fuiita's triple scored two runs. Fujita, however, was caught napping at 3rd and thrown out. Yuk Miya- moto lambasted another triple, but died on base. The Knines scored three more in their half of the 8th to take a 7-5 lead. Sasabuchi gave up four free passes for a run and Lefty Nishijima took over from there. He gave up one hit and two runs before the in- ning ended. The Deltans's half of the 8th told the story and gave them their 2nd win of the 2nd half. Yuk Miyamoto went the route for the losers, and took hitting honors for the day with four hits,includ- ing two triples. Deltan George Watanabe was credited with three bingles.
