May 8, 1943_______________PIONEER_____________Page 7 CHURCH TO SPONSOR MOTHER'S DAY PROGRAM A special Mother's Day program, sponsored by the Granada Christian Sunday school, will be presented tomorrow afternoon at the 10H church hall at 2 o'- clock. A pictorial sermon, "Be - yond the Rainbow," will be shown by Rev. Chiaki Kuzu- hara. All mothers of the Sun- day school pupils and of the church are cordially invited to attend. MOTHERS TO BE HONORED BY YBA A short sermon by Rev. Takayu Shirakawa will open the special YBA Mother's Day program at the 7G Bud- dhist hall at 2 o'clock to- morrow afternoon. Tsukasa Saneto, YBA president, will give the welcome speech. Included in the enter- tainment are selections by the Buddhist choir under the direction of Mary Wa- tanabe, vocal solos by Lily Nagatoishi, Kazuo Kiyono, and Helen Nishikawa, All Bussei are urged to bring their mothers. Re- freshments will be served. GEORGE KIYABU WILL BE MAIN SPEAKER George Kiyabu will speak at the regular morning wor- ship at Terry hall tomor- row. Rev. Akira Kuroda will be the chairman. KARATSU TO TALK ON 'INFINITE POWER' Unosuke Karatsu will lecture on "Infinite Power and Plenty Within Ourselves" at the Seicho-No-Iye meet- ing tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the 12G recreation hall. Readings and testimonials will be given by the mem- bers . COLLEGE-AGE GROUP MEETS TOMORROW The college-age group will meet at Terry hall at 7 p.m., while the high school young people will convene at 8H-11E. SCOUTS GET AWARDS AT COURT OF HONOR Frank Nakatani was a- warded the Star badge at the Court of Honor held by Troop 180 recently. Five- year service stars were presented to Taro Saisho and Frank Nakatani. Merit badges were re- ceived by Frank Tashiro, for firemanship; Shigeru Kuge, personal health; and Frank Nakatani, fireman- ship and scholarship. Tea Party Set For Tomorrow The YWCA Advisory Board, Y's Circle, and Blue Tri- angles will be the hostesses for the YWCA Mother's Day tea at Hospitality House tomorrow afternoon from 2 to 5 o'clock. A play by the Tri-Delts, songs by the Wee Teeners and Callie Kaneko will be presented during the pro- gram. Greetings will be extended by one of the Board members with a response by a mother. Amy Hattori, president of the Colleens, is chair- man of the affair. YWCA Official Speaks Today Talks on the relocation Program will be given by Esther Briesemeister, na- tional YWCA secretary, at Hospitality house this aft- noon. She will speak to the Y's Circle and out-of- school girls at 2 o'clock, and to the YMCA, advisers and leaders of young peo- ple's groups at 3 o'clock. BOY SCOUTS FETE MOTHERS; HOLD FIELD DAY Carrying on a two-fold program, the Boy Scouts will honor all mothers on Mother's Day tomorrow. An exhibit, featuring handi- craft work of the Scouts, will open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the 10E Scout hall. In the afternoon, beginning at 1 o'clock, the Scouts will participate in a Field Day at the 10E open lot. Honored guests of the day besides the mothers will be Scouts from Holly, La- mar, Granada, Bristol, and Hartman. The-public is cordially invited to attend both events. MUSlC HOUR TO FEATURE 'CARMEN' An interesting arrange- ment of "Carmen" by the popular ork leader-compo- ser-arranger Raymond Scott will be played by Music Instructor Tad Hascall at Thursday night's music-ap - preciation hour, beginning at 6:30, 8H-3E. Also scheduled for the evening is a recorded per- formance of Tschaikowsky 's Sixth. Laymen may recognize The Sixth as the symphony from which a modern arrang- er "borrowed'" the theme for the hit tune, "This is the Story of a Starry Night.” This session is open to the public.
