Page 4 PIONEER March 20, 1943 Short TAKES Persons who have trans- ferred to Granada from other relocation centers were today asked by Post- master Sam Kurihara to file their new addresses with the local post office im- mediately. © Charged with disturbing the peace in block 11G last week, the leader of a group of boys was taken to the court in Lamar Wednesday and fined $20 and cost, ac- cording to Harlow M. Tom- linson, internal security officer. © A new stock of sundry commodities has been re- ceived and are now on sale at the co-op grocery store. Included in the supplies are many types of Japanese foods. © Ronald Bruce is the name given to the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Fukuda, Jr., 711- 1A. He was born on Mar. 12 at the center hospital. © Not far from the police station was recently dis- covered a two-room-cavern containing some candles, recent newspapers, and lum- ber. The entrance to the cave is just large enough for one person to crawl through,,and the, interior is deep enough for an a- dult to stand. © Residents who ride into Lamar on the mail truck are reminded by Bob Thoman, driver, that they are not guaranteed rides back to the center. Those wishing to ride back must be prompt, he said, as the truck will not wait for them. COSTELLO FILM SCHEDULED "Pardon My Sarong,” co- starring Bud Abbott, and Lou Costello, and featuring, Virginia Bruce, Robert Paige, and the Four Ink Spots, will begin its local run Sunday, together with selected short subjects. The film, is scheduled to be shown a full week, but is subject to replace- ment if attendance falls. The cause: thirty dozen pairs of nylon hose went on sale that day! ITEM From school headquarters comes this news item, which we here print verbatim be- cause it’s kind of cute: "Our elementary school has been practicing fire drills. We come out hold- ing each other's hands. We are not supposed to talk or look back. We are supposed to look forward all the time…we walk out quietly… when we get back we all sit down and get back to our work." HAIRLESS KISH Kish Yamate’s all-star rating has gone to his head! He trips gaily into the 12E mess hall, rolls up his trouser legs, and chal- lenges the startled wait- resses thusly: "Don't you wirth you had nice, pretty, white legs like mine?!!" WANNA BECOME A WAAC? If yor're really serious about equipping yourself to become a WAAC--when and IF-you’ll have your chance with the opening here very soon of the adult vocation- al training courses in mechanical training and production.
