GET MEMBERSHIPS Tak Koga, assistant chief of police, and Yoichi Nakamura, special detail officer, were offered mem- berships in the Southeastern Colorado Sheriffs' and Peace Officers' Association at a banquet this week at the Lamar American Legion hall. Police Chief Harlow M. Tomlinson and Stanley E. Adams, internal security officer, who were in charge of arrangements, said it was the first such honor to be presented in this part of the country. A Kay Sugahara of the em- ployment office, a recent Army volunteer, spoke on the enlistment program and the nisei response. Evacuee entertainers were Brush Arai and his Aloha Serenaders, Melba , Matsuura, Dianne Endo, Sumi Kawamura, Yukino Okubo, and Susie Hattori. ODANAKA LEAVES FOR COLLEGE Woodrow Odanaka, one of the nine graduates of Ama- che high school to receive membership in the National Honor society, received a scholarship to Carleton college in Northfield, Minn. He left the center Thurs- day. SABBATH SCHOOL OPEN FOR CHILDREN The Seventh-Day Advent- ist church conducts a Sab- bath school for children and adults every Saturday from 9 to 10: 30 a.m. in the 7G recreation hall, accord- ing to George Kiyabu. YWCA TO SHOW MOVIES To raise funds for an extensive USO program for visiting servicemen, the YWCA will sponsor a benefit moving picture today and tomorrow, 1 to 5:30 p.m., at the 6H recreation hall. Six complete showings of the picture, "In His Steps," starring Eric Lin- den and Cecelia Parker, will be given each afternoon. Tickets, which may be purchased at the door, are 10 cents. Men in uniform will be admitted free. The YWCA hopes to build up a fund from the proceeds of the picture to transform the 6G recreation hall into a USO center. Typewriters Arrive Here Typewriters, secured through the National WRA office in Washington, are arriving at the center, said Procurement Chief Al- ton O. Mead, Wednesday. The typewriters are be- ing serviced and will soon replace the rented type- writers now being used in WRA offices here. Mead also revealed that the procurement office is negotiating for the purchase of machinery for the farm project. --------FOUND------- A green knitting bag at the Granada gym following the 7K and 9H girls' cage tilt. The owner may claim it at the 7E recreation of- fice. Prizes will also be a- warded to the group with the greatest percentage of its members present, so, girls, see that all yours are present. Also to the best skit will go another award. So remember, GR' s; event --Quiz Quest; when--tonight; 7 p.m. ; where--7H recreation hall. -Y- Don't you want to help USO activities in this cen- ter? Here's your chance. Today and tomorrow, the film; "In His Steps," will be shown at the 6H recrea- tion hall. The admission is only 10 cents, and all profits will go toward re- modeling the 6G recreation hall into a USO center. -Y- The Connecticut GR’ s of Hartford, Conn., are send- ing the GR monthly magazine., Calling All Girls. Girls, you are welcome to read it at the Y office. -Y- Inquiries on our organ- ization have been coming from other centers’ Y's. Mrs. Amy Nose, Kiyo Sato, and Mary Lucy Nakamura of Heart Mountain; Midori Ka- sai, Jerome; and Mrs. John Ando, Grace Sumida, and Hoshiko Kusudo, Rohwer; are all interested in our acti- vities. -Y- Toshiko Sakamoto, Midori Mori, and Fumi Sotomura were chosen to represent the Wee Teeners in the Girl Reserve Quiz Quest today. Initiated into the club recently were Yuri Yamamoto, Grace Yamaguchi , Grace Yo- shioka, Setsuko Mukainata, Marianne Kashiwagi, Mitsuko Yamamoto, Justine Sekigu- chi, and Yoneko Ibusuke. Following the initiation a party was held at the home of the advisers, Amy and Susie Hattori.
